CELEBRATE NATIONAL TAP DANCE DAY 2008

Going Beyond the Combination
to further the development and awareness of the art form of tap dancing
for the audiences of New Jersey

Tony Award Winning Choreographer, Savion Glover, and New Jersey Tap Dance Ensemble Artistic Director, Deborah Mitchell extends an invitation to you to celebrate National Tap Dance Day on Sunday, May 25, 2008 at Newark Symphony Hall. The celebration called, Going Beyond the Combination will take place at Newark Symphony Hall's, Newark Stage located on the 2nd Floor of Newark Symphony Hall and is open to participants 12 years of age and older.

Going Beyond the Combination is an afternoon event featuring 3 exciting activities.  Participants will have an opportunity to meet some of NJ's most celebrated tap artists and view rare tap footage at 1pm, followed by a tap class taught by Mr. Glover at 3:30 pm and concluding the day with a live tap performance at 6 pm paying tribute to some of Broadways finest tap shows.

Both New Jersey artists, Mr. Glover and Ms. Mitchell are excited about this collaborative effort and the support of Philip S. Thomas, Executive Director of Newark Symphony Hall to help them celebrate the art form, its pioneers and contributors.  They feel it is important to further the development and awareness of the art form of tap dancing for the audiences of New Jersey.

It will be an affordable, fun-filled day with an added treat for young amateur photographers to capture the events of the day in photographs as part of a project called Picture This. 

Tickets for all 3 events $30; Tickets for any one event $10
Parent observation of child's tap class free.
