What makes Noah Levinson of Glen Ridge so funny? Maybe it’s the creative genes he inherited from his mom, Debbie Galant, creator of Baristanet (www.baristanet.com) or his dad, Warren Levinson, the award-winning Associated Press correspondent.

Or it may be that Noah, 15, is just a hoot.

Either way, he’s funny enough to have an agent, and get a booking as a stand-up act at Comedy Village (www.comedyvillage.com) last month.  And, last year he won the designation New Jersey’s Funniest Kid after his schtick took top prize at a Montclair comedy festival.

“I love making people laugh,” says the feisty teen, peering at us through his aviators when we caught up with him in Montclair’s Brookdale Park.

He describes his comedy as observational. And spontaneous. He looks for the humor in the mundane.

We see a street sign with a kids in a seesaw to warn drivers children are present. He sees trouble. “Why are they in the middle of the road?!”

He reads that the electric chair is back in use for executions. He wonders whether in our quest for designer furniture someone will invent a matching electric coffee table.  And so forth.

Noah took on stand-up comedy after giving up on school sports. He’d have five-error, 0-for-4 games. But he did make the coach laugh.

You can meet Noah, by clicking through to our homepage, www.njmway.com and watching his video.  Or you can wait until he’s booked at a club near you—which may be sooner than you think.
