Every year it gets bigger. Tiny Solberg Airport never gets traffic like this.
The bucolic Hunterdon countryside becomes a massive staging ground for the flight of dozens of hot air balloons. Plenty of ground-level visuals too. And top flight entertainment. The organizers of the QuickChek New Jersey Festival of Ballooning (www.balloonfestival.com) are getting ready to put on the show… now billed as the largest hot air balloon and music gathering in North America. They anticipate 175,000 people attending, beginning July 27. Now imagine, coming to the festival with a VIP parking pass, tickets to a great concert and—best of all—access to the very few air conditioned rest rooms. We’ve got two pairs of those VIP tickets to give away. One, for the Creedence Clearwater Revisited show on the 29. The other pair is for the opening night concert with Chuck Negron, voice of Three Dog Night. All you have to do is post a very short clip of you (or a friend or family member) singing the Creedence mega hit Proud Mary, or TGN’s anthem Joy To The World on YouTube. And send us the link. Do this by Thursday the 19, and we’ll pick two winners. Rose Jakubaszek of Jersey City knows we deliver. We’re giving her two tickets to tomorrow night’s premiere of Hairspray at NJPAC (www.njpac.org) because of her winning words of praise for the Arts Center. She wrote: “NJPAC means that I don't have to schlepp across or under a river … NJPAC means I can leave and return home at a reasonable hour… NJPAC means that I don't have to choose between going out to dinner OR going to a show, because NJPAC is so close to so many great restaurants…. Most of all, NJPAC makes me feel proud to be from Northern NJ because NJPAC is the crowning jewel of entertainment in our area. And no one can deny it! Have fun Rose—and for the rest of you, we’re waiting to hear you belt out the hits. Don’t forget to use plenty of hot air.
